Your Autobiographies

Marcia Brody's Autobiography (submitted 5/8/06)

I wrote a book about my parents and siblings but because I don't have spare money to self-publish, I'll settle for an under-300-word autobiography. I am the fifth of seven children born to Esther and Nathan Bass of North, South Carolina. I lived in North from the age of three to the age of 20. There is a South Carolina town called Ninety Six and the mileage from North to Ninety Six is 65. There is another South Carolina town called Due West and North is 90 miles southeast of Due West. After graduating North High with eight other students, I entered the University of South Carolina and graduated January 1948. I then accepted a job in Charlotte, North Carolina, where I worked eight years and where I met my late husband who was originally from South Philly. That is what brought me to Pennsylvania! I am the mother of three and the grandmother of one. I am very close to my siblings, and I put out a family paper three or four times a year to 49 families in 14 states. Subscription is a book of stamps or $10 which I use to enter sweepstakes. From 1982 to 1995 I worked for a Center City law firm. During my years in Pennsylvania besides other volunteer work, I was President for two years of my Hadassah group and I now handle their publicity. I was Democratic Committee Person for ten years and Deputy Constable at the polls for five years. Because I never had a birthday party, I plan to give myself one a year from August for a special birthday.
