Pierre-Michel Alix
1762 - 1817
French. Engraver. Alix (along with Janinet and Bonnet) "popularized the technique of multiple-plate colour printing for the progressive tonal intaglio processes of mezzotint, aquatint, stipple, and crayon manner." He produced many portraits of Revolutionary heroes, historical subjects and, late in his life, images of Napoleon's career.
