Lemire (Charles Gabriel Sauvage)
1741 - 1827
Charles Gabriel Sauvage, called Lemire, was Director of the studio of the Niderviller factory in Lorraine, France, owned by Adam Philippe, Comte de Custine (1740-1793). The manager of the factory at the time was François Lanfrey. The design of the figure groups of Franklin and Louis XVI is attributed to Lemire, though his name is not on any of the known examples to substantiate the attribution.
