Jean-Honoré Fragonard
1732 - 1806
French artist. Fragonard studied with French masters, including Boucher, Chardin, and van Loo, and won the Prix de Rome. After three years at the École Royale, he traveled to Italy, where he studied for 5 years. During that time he met, worked with and traveled with Charles-Joseph Natoire, Hubert Robert, and the Abbé de Saint Non (Robert's patron).
Returning to France, he spent a long and active career producing easel paintings and decorative commissions for important patrons.
