François Denis Née
1732 - 1817
Née was the engraver responsible for the multiple image taken from Carmontelle's profile portrait. He advertised it for sale in March, 1781, at his studio "rue des Francs-Bourgeois, Porte St. Michel." Carmontelle was also the engraver of a view of Voltaire's room at the Chateau de Ferney, whose walls are covered with images of Voltaire's associates, including one of Franklin. (Sellers, p. 216)
