Ebenezer Kinnersley
1711-11-30 - 1778-07-04
Kinnersley, born in England, came to the colonies as a child. His father, a minister, spent his career at Pennsylvania's Lower Dublin Baptist Church with his family; and Lower Dublin remained Kinnersley's home.

He was a teacher of English and oratory at the College of Philadelphia (now University of Pennsylvania); and his interest in "electrical fire" brought him together with Franklin. With Franklin, Philip Syng, Jr., and Hopkinson, he formed a quartet of investigative amateurs whose experimentation, lecturing and writing established the essential nature of electricity.
