William Savery, an apprentice of a Solomon Fussell, was one of Philadelphia's most prominent cabinet- and chairmakers during the middle of the 18th century. His shop produced a multitude of well-made, simple and graceful objects that have come to define what some call the "Philadelphia" style of 18th century furniture.
