Provenance
The painting was offered for sale (in Paris?) in 1928, and bought by the Daniel Farr, Co., Inc. Acquired by Edward B. Robinette, it was given by him to Herbert Hoover. In 1982 it was given to the National Portrait Gallery by the bequest of Mrs. Herbert Clark Hoover.
