(11.1 cm) Frankliniana Collection, The Franklin Institute, Inc. (Philadelphia, Pa.), 3347 Court sword, or "short sword," with steel blade and silver handle worn by Franklin at the French court. It descended to his grandson Benjamin Franklin Bache, and remained in the family until it was given to The Franklin Institute in the third quarter of the 19th century.
