Franklin is wearing a wig and has highly colored cheeks and exaggerated eyebrows. He wears a simple white shirt and black coat. Below the image of Franklin is a rectangle with "D. Benjamin Franklin" painted in it. It is possible that the design source was the Wedgwood profile taken from the Gosset wax portrait, or a print taken from it.
