Philadelphia Museum of Art, promised gift of Robert L. McNeil, Jr. (Philadelphia, Pa.) This chair is one of few objects with a history of Franklin ownership that has a "paper trail" to support the attribution. Franklin was billed by chairmaker Solomon Fussell for "three best crookt feet chairs" and for mending one "Crooked foot Chair," both in 1748.
