The plate is said to have belonged to Franklin, and to have been given to his sister, Jane Mecom. Mrs. Mecom was an ancestor of E.J. Rowland; the plate was given by Mary Rowland to Mrs. Morse in 1912, and donated by Mrs. Morse to the museum, probably in 1947.
