Provenance
The painting was owned by LeRay de Chaumont, until its sale in 1791 to a brother of the Périer family. It remained in that family until 1919, when it was purchased by Colonel Michael Friedsam. On Friedsam's death, his collection was offered by his bequest to the Metropolitan Museum of Art. The Museum has owned it since 1931.
