The mezzotint by Will is an example of the speed with which images of Franklin were copied: Cochin's drawing was engraved by St. Aubin; St. Aubin's engraving was copied and amended considerably by Will. The variations appear to have occurred within about a year (the Cochin/St.Aubin engraving is dated 1777).
