As an agent in London for Pennsylvania, Franklin campaigned vigorously against the Stamp Act, rejoiced in its repeal, and sent a copy of the cartoon home to his wife. The cartoon was copied widely, and copies were sold as fast as the ink could dry. Innumerable examples survive in public and private collections.
