Provenance
Two tall case clocks were in the inventory taken of Franklin's possessions on his death. One, described as "Clock (on the stairs)" was valued at £20. That clock may be this one, which the American Philosophical Society purchased from Mrs. Henrietta Bache Jayne, a descendant of Franklin's through Benjamin Franklin (Benny) Bache.
