The desk has a fall front, behind which are eight small drawers placed in two banks of four each; below each bank of drawers is a range of four open vertical bins or cubbyholes. These groups of drawers and bins flank a central unit of door and drawers. The body of the desk is four drawers of increasing depth; each drawer runs the full width of the case, except that the top drawer is slightly reduced in width to accommodate two vertical wooden bars, one at each end, that can be pulled out to serve as rests for the fall front when it is opened. The case of the desk stands on serpentine bracket feet.
