The slender mahogany walking stick or cane is cylindrical in section, and tapers from the handle to the tip. It has an ebonized handle with a small rectangular silver plaque. Engraved on the plaque in script are the initials BF. A brass band or ring separates the handle from the staff. Approximately an inch below this band is an oval hole to receive a cord or ribbon (now missing). The tip of the stick is covered in brass.
