The Benjamin Franklin Tercentenary birthday celebrations would not have been possible without the generosity and creativity of the following organizations.

Official Birthday Celebration Cake Designer: Weber-Prianti Scenic Studio

Weber-Prianti Scenic Studio designed and constructed the amazing eight-foot-high, 14-foot-wide birthday cake that is the centerpiece of the January 17 celebration. The three layers comprising the cake were fabricated from wood and plastic, and frosted with scenic “goop” made from tile adhesive and pigment. Each cake level is adorned with 100 birthday candles, which are electronically controlled and simulate a moving flame, through a theatrical “special effect.” Personalized for the man of honor, framed images of Franklin’s many accomplishments surround the three layers.

Weber-Prianti Scenic Studio has designed and fabricated scenery for stage, television, and film for over 20 years, in addition to fabricating exhibits and displays for Corporate America and creating theme décor for parties and Corporate Events. Clients of Weber-Prianti include The Coors Brewing Company, The QVC Network, CNN, Mattel, Lexus, K-Mart and Walt Disney World.

Iron Hill Brewery and Poor Richard’s Ale

Throughout January, Americans will be able to celebrate Benjamin Franklin’s 300th birthday with a glass of “Poor Richard’s Ale.” This special brew, available nationwide, was carefully crafted by Tony Simmons of Pagosa Brewing Co. (Pagosa Springs, CO) to resemble the flavor of a beer that Franklin himself might have enjoyed. Simmons’ winning recipe was selected by a panel of judges, brought together by the Brewers Association, in cooperation with the Benjamin Franklin Tercentenary.
