Provenance
Gift of Mrs. Wharton Sinkler, 1972.

Purchased by Mr. Wharton Sinkler from Richard W. Lehne for $800 (who unfortunately claimed it was an original Houdon). Mr. Lehne purchased it from a "very prominent English gentleman who came to this country immediately after the Armistice." Copies of the correspondence are on file in the Rare Books Reading Room of the University of Pennsylvania Library.
